Guidelines from
Ministry of
Environment &
Forest, India
Guidelines for
e-waste in India:
-
A collective
collection
system (PRO
Producer
Responsibility
Organization) be
set up in each
city. Such a PRO
will have
industry
participation as
well as
participation
from existing
informal sector
collectors, as
well as other
stakeholders.
-
The PRO should
have tie-ups
with recycling
units which are
either existing
or are new which
ensure that
e-waste is
properly
channelised.
-
The system will
be that the PRO
collects the
material in
association with
the municipality
and existing
ianformal
sector,
channelise this
to a dismantling
unit and further
diverts separate
components to
appropriate
designated
recyclers.
-
Such recycling
units should
have mandated
ESM procedures.
We believe that
such an
arrangement will
ensure that
e-waste is
properly
channelised to
the appropriate
recycling units
KRL’s Approach
-
Setting up of an
integrated
facility for
recycling of
e-waste under
pollution norms.
-
Look forward for
a possible
tie-up for
supply of
technology and
knowhow from a
renowned WEEE
Recyclers around
the globe.
-
Associations
with NGO’s ,
Government and
Environmental
organizations
for creating
awareness of
increasing
threat of
e-waste in
India.
-
Long term
contracts with
Electrical and
Electronic
manufacturers,
users and
disposers to
setup an
efficient
collection
centre helping
them implement
in their
extended
producers/user
responsibilities.
